Black Bean Milk Yogurt


Black bean has more healthy benefit than regular soybean.

Today I will show you how to make your black bean milk yogurt.

Follow how to make black bean milk to make you own homemade fresh black bean milk. I will suggest you add not more than 5 cups of water when you make the bean milk.This will cut off some whey when you make the yogurt.

You will also need Vegan yogurt starter.


You Need:

  • Soy milk maker to make fresh black bean milk.
  • Vegan yogurt starter;
  • Thermometer;
  • 2/3 cup sugar;
  • cleaned jars or container;
  • A big bottle to have some hot tab water, to maintain the temperature.


Let's Start:

  • Making black bean milk is same as making soybean milk, follow here to make one batch (about 5 cups) fresh black bean milk; strain the bean milk one or two times, depends how you like it, I strained two times.
  • After strain the milk, add 2/3 cup sugar when the milk still hot, and stir it;



  • Cool the milk to about 108°F, not over 110°F, or it will kill the bacteria. 

The temperature is very important!





  • Add Vegan yogurt starter into the milk and stir it well.



  • Pour the mixture into jars or container(s)



  • Add lids on the bottles, but not tie it.



  • Move bottles to cooler, I have one big bottle contain tab hot water in it to keep the cooler warm. You can use any other method to keep the temperature, then cover it.



  • After 8 hours, your black bean milk yogurt is ready, and need to move them into refrigerator, let them chill about 4-6 hours or over night.
  • Black bean milk yogurt likes other homemade yogurt, you will see the whey on the top, you can spoon out some if you don't like it, but I'll suggest you to drink it, because it's good for you.



  • Here is the fresh homemade black bean milk yogurt. This bean milk yogurt will not thick, because I didn't add any thickening agents. I like what comes nature, and taste better too.

  • If you want thicker yogurt you can add tapioca starch, Ultra-gel, agar and some other thickeners.
